Final Packets in
the Mail
Final Packets
with information and forms to reserve your place at the various event venues
for our 50th year class reunion have been mailed. If
you don't receive yours, within the next week, that means we do not have your current
address. Please email your current residence address, telephone number
and email address to Jack Truher at: jmhs@truher.com.
Don't miss out on this gala celebration.
We would love to see you there! Because Royal Caribbean Cruise
Line requires payment within 120 days of the cruise date, we have a critical
time restraint on making reservations for the cruise. Please make your
reservation for the cruise directly with the travel agent within a week of
receiving your packet. Sorry about the short notice, but this was
unavoidable. Also, send in your biography to Gretchen White
Janssen. Directions on filling out the biography page you select is
included in the packet together with an envelope to mail it to
Gretchen. You may also email it to her.

Frank Carrard Steps Down as IOC Director General
Molly and Neal Brockmeyer noticed
the following article about Fank Carrard (Class of '56)
written by Alan
Abrahamson for the Los Angeles Times:
"A colonel on the general staff of the Swiss Defense ministry has been appointed the new director general of the International Olympic Committee, the IOC announced Tuesday.
Urs Lacotte, 49, succeeds Francois Carrard, who has held the job -- the head of the professional staff at IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland -- since 1989.
Carrard has held the IOC job on a part-time basis; he is a Swiss lawyer who also is involved with several businesses and serves as head of the word-famous jazz festival each summer in Montreaux. Under a restructuring by IOC President Jacques Rogge, the director general will be a full-time position.Carrard declined to take the IOC job full time. He will remain with the IOC as a senior advisor to Rogge . . . ."

Snow in
Pasadena 1949: A Note From Don Eckhart
I hope you like snow in Pasadena,
California.
My name is Don Eckhart. I lived at 1766 Mentone Avenue in 1949.
I have a picture of the snowfall taken January 1949 at 1766 Mentone Avenue.
In 1953/54 I attended Washington Junior High School and attended John Muir
in 1955. I graduated from Mifflin High School in Columbus, Ohio in
1956 then went into the Marine Corp from 1956-1960.
I married in 1962 and had one and only one child in 1963. I got divorced and remarried again in 1975.
Divorced again in 1989 and I'm still single. For 25 years I worked for the
Chesapeak and Ohio Rwy, latter C&O/B&O then Chessie then CSX.
I'm retired and having more money now than I ever had and enjoying the time.
Hope everyone else is also.

Mark Helbling's
Poem
Mark
Helbling wrote a poem immediately following our Fortieth Year Reunion, held
September 21, 1996. The structures of our lives have taken many forms and we
have chosen to walk along paths that seldom cross. This poem
beautifully expresses one such crossing.
Looking forward with eagerness, Mark has written another poem, to
commemorate our 50th year reunion, scheduled for 2006. In the
spirit of this poetic lyricism, let us all resolve to unleash the youth that
remains within us and attend this reunion so we may celebrate together, a
special milestone in our lives.

September 1950 through June 1954. In August 2001, some fifty years later, he took a

saw and how he felt, and sprinkled into his narrative many photographs with
